Decisions Released by Western Bay
11 Jun, 2010

The Western Bay of Plenty District Council publicly notified its decisions on the Proposed District Plan on 30 January 2010.  Following the release of these decisions, a number of appeals were lodged with the Environment Court challenging various aspects of the Plan.

Under the new Plan, the majority of the land contained within the Western Bay is zoned “Rural” with three specific areas near Katikati, Tauranga & Te Puke zoned “Lifestyle”.  The new Plan generally imposes greater restrictions on the ability to subdivide rural properties and has also resulted in the introduction of a 300m zone adjoining Tauranga Harbour and the Wairoa River, where additional building controls apply.

If you have been considering subdividing or developing your property, or would like further clarification on the implications of the new Plan, please contact John Barnes.
